The song 'In Provence' is an English adaptation of the poem 'There was something ... '(Er was iets .. .) that is part of the cycle 'Landscapes' in the poetry collection 'Spreading' (Spreidstand} by Frank Zonderland, published by De Scriptomanen vzw in Aalst in November 2018.

The poem 'There was something ... 'was translated into English by Frank Zonderland in 2002 and won an American poetry prize under the title 'Something memorable'. lt was then a month to read on the website of the organizing association. In collaboration with composer-pianist-singer Rudy de Sutter, 'Something memorable' was reworked into lyrics. A chorus and some rhyme was added and the verses were shortened to make them more musical. The melancholie tone became even more intense as a result.
